Service terms

Clear limits for a user-controlled bridge.

These terms cover the project-operated website and planned hosted bridge. The Apache-2.0 license separately governs the open-source code.

Public hosted access is not generally available yet. These terms take effect for a user when the hosted service is offered and the user connects it. Website and source-code use are available now.

1. Service

Nextcloud for ChatGPT & Codex is an independent bridge that exposes bounded Nextcloud tools through MCP. It is not a Nextcloud administrator, backup service, payment service, accounting system, legal adviser, or guaranteed archive. The project is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nextcloud GmbH or OpenAI.

2. Your authority and accounts

You may connect only a Nextcloud account and workspace you are authorized to use. Keep control of your ChatGPT, OAuth, and Nextcloud accounts. Never paste a password, app password, token, recovery code, or private share URL into a prompt or public report. You are responsible for revoking access when it is no longer needed.

3. Your content

You retain ownership and responsibility for files and metadata in your Nextcloud. You grant only the limited technical permission required to retrieve, process, return, and—when explicitly requested—change content through the selected tool. Do not use the service for unlawful content, unauthorized surveillance, abuse, or infringement of another person's rights.

4. Writes and backups

File writes, overwrites, moves, deletes, and disconnects can change or remove data. Review tool targets and confirmations carefully. Maintain an independent backup and Nextcloud versioning appropriate to the importance of your data. The bridge does not replace either.

5. Invoice review

Invoice extraction and checks are automated decision support and may be incomplete or wrong. A qualified human must verify the source document, amounts, supplier, tax treatment, payment details, and due date. The app does not approve, book, pay, transmit, or automatically archive an invoice and must not be used as the sole basis for a financial, tax, or legal decision.

6. Availability and changes

The hosted service may be changed, rate-limited, suspended, or discontinued for maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons. Release-candidate and beta features may change. Material changes that require user action will be communicated through the project site or connected product where reasonably possible.

7. Suspension and termination

Access may be suspended for abuse, attempted scope escape, security risk, unlawful use, or material violation of these terms. You may stop using the service at any time and should disconnect Nextcloud to remove bridge connection data and trigger app-password revocation.

8. Warranty and responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the hosted service is provided without a promise of uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. The Apache-2.0 license contains the separate warranty and liability terms for self-hosted source code.

9. Privacy and third-party services

The Privacy page describes project-operated processing. Nextcloud, OpenAI, OAuth, hosting, and any self-hosted operator have separate terms and privacy practices. You are responsible for deciding whether those services are appropriate for your data and users.

10. Contact

Use the Support page for documentation, public bug reports, and the private security/privacy channel. Do not include secrets or personal files in a public issue.
